China eCommerce Software – 5 features you must have to succeed

by TRILOGI Press

As we reported earlier this year, ecommerce in China keeps growing at a fast pace and shows no sign of slowing down. Along with increasing sales, the competition amongst standalone online stores is also intensifying. In order to provide a great experience for your online customers, there are multiple factors that must be taken into account , such as design, marketing, products, etc. Surely, there are a few ecommerce software features that must not be underestimated, especially in a market as competitive as the Chinese one.

  • Payment Gateway

Paypal, Visa, Mastercard – forget about them. They are not used in China, and your buyers won’t use them. What you need are Chinese payment gateways, such as AliPay, TenPay, or ChinaPay. Your ecommerce software in China must be ready to connect them and work flawlessy with them (unless you really do not want to be paid).

  • Chat

Everybody loves to chat, and especially Chinese online shoppers, who are known to inquire by chat before purchasing, especially the first time. Having an integrated chat system is the preferrable solution, although connecting to QQ may also be a workaround.

  • Social Log In

Have you ever signed up for a website using Facebook or Google log in button? Pretty neat huh? Well forget about them. Although social log in buttons are also popular in China, your ecommerce software must be ready to support QQ, Weibo and other local social networks.

  • Multi-Channel

China is a huge country, and Chinese shoppers are used to receive their goods in a matter of hours. Being able to deliver your goods fast is not only a challenge at a organizational, administrative level, but also a technical one. Having an ecommerce platform in China that can handle multi channels is a way to improve your deliveries and increase satisfaction levels.

  • Chinese Servers

Although not technically related to the ecommerce software, your website must be hosted on Chinese servers. That not only will increase the speed, but also help positioning your website on Baidu, which tends to prefer websites hosted in China. Before starting an online shop in China, make sure that the website can be hosted in China.
